Whipps, Inc.’s 500 Series Stop Logs Breakdown

The 500 Series features a range of stop log gates specifically designed to provide precise water level management across facilities. These gates consist of stop logs, metallic blocks engineered to halt water flow, and a frame to secure them. When properly installed, the stop logs effectively prevent flooding and leakage, ensuring safe working conditions in affected areas. Whipps, Inc.’s 500 Series Stop Logs exemplify the resilience, longevity, and high performance that customers have come to expect from our equipment.

Low Head Conditions

The Model 509 and Model 510 Stop Logs are equipped with UHMW seals along their edges, making them ideal for blocking flow in low head conditions. Manufactured from lightweight yet durable aluminum, these models allow for easy manual insertion and removal when needed. Additionally, we offer custom-engineered solutions tailored to fit around corners and across large openings, ensuring maximum flexibility in application.

Heavy Duty Option

For installations requiring greater strength, we recommend our Model 511 Aluminum Stop Logs or Model 529 Stainless Steel Stop Logs. These models are built to handle higher head conditions than their low-head counterparts, without sacrificing manual removability. Their robust construction makes them perfect for applications with infrequent installation or removal, such as flood control where debris is likely to accumulate. To streamline handling, these heavy-duty models can be paired with a lifter, ensuring easy and efficient operation.

High Head Conditions

For projects requiring solutions to withstand high head conditions, our Model 519 and Model 529 Bulkhead Gates are the ideal choice. Combining elements of stop logs and stop slide designs, these bulkhead gates are engineered to cover large openings under significant pressure. The Model 519 features a robust slide made from extruded aluminum (Alloy 6061-T6), designed to handle a maximum bending stress of 7,600 psi. Meanwhile, the Model 529 is crafted from premium stainless steel (Type 304 or 316) and includes resilient lip-type seals on the sides and bottom to ensure a secure, watertight fit.

Stop Log Lifter

Our stop log lifter is available in aluminum or stainless steel and features UHMW guide bars along with stainless steel fasteners for enhanced durability. Designed to facilitate both the installation and removal of stop logs, the lifter operates with a simple lanyard system for quick latching and unlatching, ensuring ease of use for personnel in the field.

Remember to Check Out Our Brochures

top log designs have been an integral part of water management for decades, traditionally using timber logs to control water flow. While we’ve moved beyond wooden materials, our aluminum and stainless steel stop logs offer superior performance, delivering lower leakage rates and enhanced durability for even the most demanding conditions.
