24 Jul Employee Spotlight: Charley Piragis
In his 33 years at Whipps, Inc., Charley has worked in welding, operated the waterjet and press break, spent a little time in the machine shop, engineering, management. And to this day participates in welding, skidding, and assembly whenever needed to help get projects completed. All while managing the shop and scheduling shipments. Not many know this but Charley started in the sandblast shed and painting when he joined Whipps in 1991. In his time here, Charley has gained reputation of being the most patient and understanding manager anyone could work for. It certainly makes those 10+ hour days in the shop easier when you work alongside a leader like Charley. He is the embodiment of the Whipps, Inc. culture and we are grateful to have him!
Brief Interview:
What was your favorite concert you attended?
Probably when I saw Metallica, it was my son's first concert.
What meal would you eat every night and not get tried of?
Corned beef and cabbage! If I was to die that would be my last meal.
What subject in school was the easiest for you? Which was the hardest?
Hardest was math. Easiest for me was english . I didn't enjoy it, but it was easy. [Also] woodshop was enjoyable and easy. I always pictured myself as a carpenter.
If you could spend one day with a famous person, who would it be?
Robert Plant. Led Zeppelin is my all-time favorite group.
