19 Feb Whipps, Inc. Info: What is an Embedded Gate?
Benefits of Embedding Slide and Sluice Gates into Your Application
In certain facilities, maintaining unimpeded water flow is essential for safety and operational efficiency. For these critical applications, we recommend our 921, 821, and 521 series water management equipment, specifically designed for embedded installation within concrete structures. These gates provide seamless integration and reliable performance in demanding environments. Additionally, many of our other products can be customized with embedded configurations. Our engineers are available for consultations to ensure the perfect fit for your project
What is an Embedded Gate?
An embedded slide gate functions similarly to our standard slide gates but is specifically designed to integrate seamlessly into concrete structures. Instead of being wall mounted, its frame is embedded within the concrete lining of the water passage, ensuring unobstructed flow and enhanced durability. We designate embedded water control equipment with a series model number ending in “1” (e.g., 921, 821, 521). Unlike traditional slide gates, these models replace anchor bolts with small flat bars positioned along the outer frame called anchor straps that hook onto the concrete poured around it. This flush installation along the bottom, sides, and, if necessary, the top eliminates obstructions, preventing debris buildup and ensuring optimal water flow management.
The Stainless Steel Series 921 Slide Gate
The stainless steel 900 Series is our most popular line of slide and sluice gates, offering products for any solution from light-weight equipment to heavy-duty water gates. As part of this versatile series, the 921 slide gate is our standard embedded model. Built for strength, durability, and reliable performance, the 921 embedded slide gate ensures efficient water flow management while maintaining the high-quality engineering Whipps, Inc. is known for. Our Aluminum Series 821 Slide Gate
The 800 Series is our aluminum counterpart to the stainless steel 900 Series, offering a lightweight yet durable water control solution. Known for its reliability and versatility, the 800 Series is a trusted choice for a wide range of applications. The 821 slide gate is our aluminum embedded model, specifically designed with custom guides that securely grip the surrounding concrete for a stable, long-lasting installation. Its flush sides and bottom ensure uninterrupted water flow when in the open position, making it an efficient and effective option for water management systems. 500 Series Model 521 Stop Gates
For situations where embedding a stop gate is essential, Whipps, Inc. offers the 521 stainless steel stop gate; a durable, low-leakage solution designed for secure installation. Part of our 500 Series Stop Gates, the 521 model features anchor straps that provide a strong, stable embedment within concrete structures. To ensure reliable water containment, the UHMW seals create a tight, secure closure with minimal leakage, making this stop gate an efficient and effective choice for a variety of water control applications.
