13 Dec Product Showcase: What is the 300 Series?
Whipps, Inc.’s 300 Series Breakdown
The 300 Series represents some of our most specialized water control equipment. While these products are less frequently ordered, they remain a crucial part of our catalog, embodying the quality and innovation that define the Whipps Standard. The 300 Series features equipment designed for resilience, longevity, and high performance, including telescoping valves, butterfly valves, rotating scum skimmers, and tilting weirs.
Telescoping Valves
The Model 310 Telescoping Valve features a slip tube available in stainless steel, brass, or PVC, with sizes ranging from 4 inches to 18 inches. These valves are operated using a stem or rack-and-pinion mechanism, ensuring smooth and efficient functionality. Designed for applications where space is limited but performance cannot be compromised.
Butterfly Valves
The butterfly gates or butterfly valves in our 300 Series are designed with UHMW or rubber seals and utilize a sophisticated thrust bearing system. This allows them to rotate a full 90 degrees with minimal effort, providing superior efficiency compared to similarly sized slide gates. These valves are a smart choice for projects requiring high-performance flow control without compromising durability.
Rotating Scum Skimmers
Our rotating scum skimmers feature an 8″ Schedule 40 pipe made of 304/304L or 316/316L stainless steel. The skimmer is designed to rotate, efficiently removing floating debris from the water’s surface. Strategic cut-outs in the pipe direct debris away from the waterway for proper disposal. The frame and lever, also constructed from reinforced stainless steel, ensure the skimmer performs reliably under a variety of design head conditions.
Tilting Weirs
The Tilting Weir Gates are a cornerstone of our specialized water control solutions, often used in water treatment plants and flood control systems. Designed and manufactured to meet American Water Works Association (AWWA) standards, these gates ensure efficient water flow in one direction, crucial for maintaining the separation between treated and untreated water.
