The Mazak Integrex i-450H
The Mazak Integrex i-450H is a hybrid multi-tasking machine that integrates gear cutting, turning, milling, 5-axis machining, and in-machine gear measurement. Built by Mazak, a company with a long history of engineering excellence, this machine is designed for high-mix, low-volume production as well as mass production needs. It supports three advanced gear machining methods: gear skiving, hobbing, and endmilling. The machine also uses conversational programming for fast and accurate setup. With in-machine scanning and measurement, it produces gears to ISO Class 5 standards, ensuring every component meets the strictest accuracy and performance criteria.
How We Use the Machine
Since setting it up in our facility, complete with our branding on the robotic arm, we’ve been using the Integrex i-450H to fabricate critical components—especially gears—for our water control products. Thanks to its ultra-precise synchronization between spindles and advanced control systems, we’re now achieving tighter tolerances even on parts that already met engineered specs. This improvement is especially valuable for our new GW gearbox product line. The gears are produced with near-zero backlash, enhancing performance and reliability for our customers.
