This year, we are taking visitors inside a 3D wastewater treatment facility where they can follow water through the treatment process and see Whipps gates and valves operating where they would actually be used.

Nearly Five Decades of Water Control Experience
Since 1977, Whipps, Inc. has specialized in the design and manufacture of fabricated water control equipment. That experience has taught us that dependable water control requires more than simply opening and closing a gate. The equipment has to perform under the hydraulic, structural, environmental, and operational conditions of the facility where it is installed. That is why we manufacture equipment in both stainless steel and aluminum and offer a wide range of configurations for different applications. From a gate controlling influent at the beginning of treatment to a flap gate protecting the final discharge, each product has a specific role in helping operators safely manage water throughout a facility. Our new 3D environment brings those individual pieces together so visitors can see the larger picture.
See a Wastewater Treatment Plant Come to Life
Understanding a sluice gate on a specification sheet is one thing. Seeing exactly where that gate operates inside a wastewater treatment facility and watching it control water is something entirely different. Working with the 2Kings team, Whipps has developed a detailed 3D wastewater treatment plant environment that shows how water moves through different stages of treatment and how flow control equipment contributes to the process. Visitors will be able to follow wastewater as it enters the facility from the sewer system and moves through screening, primary settlement, biological treatment, secondary settlement, and final discharge. Along the way, Whipps equipment will demonstrate how gates and valves can regulate flow, maintain water elevations, isolate sections of a facility, remove accumulated material, and help protect the final outfall from backflow.
Don’t Just Watch It
The 3D facility will not be limited to a video. At our booth, we will have a dedicated interactive device that allows attendees to explore the wastewater treatment environment themselves. Walk through the facility, examine different treatment areas, interact with Whipps products, and see how changing the position of a gate affects the water around it. This gives visitors an opportunity to experience our equipment in context rather than simply seeing an individual gate removed from the system it was engineered to serve.
Throughout the environment, attendees will be able to learn about products used for different water control responsibilities. Sluice and slide gates can direct and isolate flow between processes. Downward-opening weir gates can regulate water elevation. Shear gates and mud valves can operate where sludge and solids must be managed. Telescoping valves can control the elevation from which water is withdrawn, while flap gates can provide passive backflow prevention at an outfall.
What to Look for at WEFTEC 2026
Last year, we introduced new ways for WEFTEC attendees to interact with Whipps, including our QR brochure cards that made it easier to take technical product information home after visiting the booth. We also showcased the capabilities of our manufacturing operation and advanced machining technology. For 2026, we wanted to take the next step. Instead of only showing what we manufacture, we want to show what our equipment does once it reaches the field.
Keep an eye out for the Whipps, Inc. banner on the exhibition floor. You might even see the wastewater treatment plant running at our booth. We are excited to share what we have been developing and even more excited to put the controls in your hands. The wastewater treatment plant experience gives us that opportunity.
