The History of Whipps

Whipps, Inc. was founded in 1977 by George and Pauline Whipps with a simple but enduring mission: to provide high-quality, custom-fabricated water control gates at a competitive price. From its earliest days, the company has been committed to craftsmanship, innovation, and strong relationships with both employees and the community of Athol, Massachusetts. After outgrowing our original facility in 2000, we moved to our current location on South Athol Road, later expanding in 2008, 2010, 2024, and 2025 to meet increasing demand. Through every stage of growth, we’ve remained a family-owned company that values the dedication of our employees, the trust of our customers, and the strength of our community.
